Step by Step: Searching on ticaretsicil.gov.tr

1. Go to ticaretsicil.gov.tr, the gazette's official site run by TOBB.
2. Log in with e-Devlet or create a free account. Searching is free, but it requires a login.
3. Enter the company's trade name (ticaret unvanı), its trade registry number or the publication date. The exact registered name gives the most reliable result; a partial name returns every company containing those words.
4. Open the matching announcement and download the page as PDF. Each entry shows the gazette issue number, the publication date, the registry office (for example the Istanbul Trade Registry Directorate) and the type of registration.

Checking Whether a Company Name Is Available

Before forming a company, check the proposed trade name with the title search (unvan sorgulama) on the TTSG site. It lists registered companies with the same or similar names. The binding check happens in MERSİS, the central registry system of the Ministry of Trade, when the incorporation application is prepared: if the name is already registered or reserved, the system warns you and the application cannot proceed with that name.

The gazette shows what has been announced; it does not show whether a company is currently solvent or active. Before signing a contract or sending money, combine several checks:

• MERSİS number and registry details: the e-Devlet service "Ticari İşletme ve Şirket Sorgulama" of the Ministry of Trade shows a company's registration status.
• Latest announcements: look for recent capital changes, new directors, an address change or a liquidation notice (tasfiye) in the TTSG.
• Authorised signatories: ask for the current signature circular (imza sirküleri) and compare it with the directors announced in the gazette.
• Activity certificate: a current faaliyet belgesi from the company's chamber of commerce confirms that it is registered and active.
